Having a great smile can boost confidence, make you look and feel younger and improve day to day function like chewing, speaking and even sleeping. We don’t just transform teeth, we transform lives.
Cosmetic Dental Consultation
If you have concerns about the appearance of your smile, whether it be crooked, uneven, worn or discoloured teeth, a cosmetic consultation is usually the best starting point.
At this consultation, an in-depth discussion will be had with your dentist about all of your concerns and wishes. A thorough, in-depth examination of your mouth and smile will be undertaken, checking that the jaw, teeth and gums are healthy before considering any cosmetic improvement of the smile.
The smile will be analysed using digital photography to show you any issues and potential areas for improvement. You will then be walked through all of the options available to you, including all the risks and benefits and likely costs. We allow adequate time for all of your questions about any potential treatment.
Are you ready for the perfect smile? Veneers may be the answer.
Porcelain veneers are thin layers of ceramic that are bonded to the front surface of teeth. They can be used for a wide range of reasons, including…
Lightening the shade of teeth
Changing the shape or proportion of teeth
Closing gaps between teeth
Restoring fractured or chipped teeth
Once deciding on veneers, a first appointment is made to prepare the teeth. This usually involves shaving a small amount of enamel from the front surface of the tooth, and in some cases, can involve no preparation at all. An impression or mould is then taken of the teeth and sent to our laboratory technician. Temporary veneers are then placed over the prepared teeth until the next appointment. Two weeks later, the veneers are bonded to the teeth using very strong, adhesive cement.
Porcelain veneers are a very quick way to dramatically transform your smile.
Dental Composite Bonding
Composite resin or “white filling” can be used to enhance a smile without removing any enamel from the teeth. This is known as composite or cosmetic bonding.
Cosmetic bonding can be used to replace parts of the tooth missing from either decay or trauma, it can straighten the appearance of the smile or it can be used to close gaps between teeth. The composite material is bonded to the tooth surface using a unique adhesive system. As it is often not necessary to remove any enamel, using composite resin to enhance the smile is a great deal more conservative than placing porcelain veneers. Cosmetic bonding can be less financial investment than porcelain veneers.
Our principal dentist, Will Shaw has won a national Smile Award for his work with cosmetic bonding.
Cosmetic Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is the process of removing internal and external stains in the enamel of teeth to lighten the shade, giving a whiter, brighter smile. Teeth whitening is a very effective, simple treatment, that in most cases, can dramatically improve your smile.
Teeth whitening is perfectly safe providing you have it carried out by a dental professional using a peroxide-based gel. Peroxide-based gels that are used to whiten teeth have been extensively researched for over thirty years and have shown to have no damaging effects on the teeth.
We use the following two techniques at the clinic for whitening teeth:
This is the preferred technique for most teeth whitening cases.
It involves wearing custom fit trays containing peroxide gel over your teeth These are worn either overnight or for 30-45 minutes daily This gently and gradually whitens the teeth over a period of about two weeks.
In-office power whitening
This treatment is more suited to those who do not have time on their side and require their teeth whitened within two weeks.
The process involves the application of a stronger peroxide-based gel, whilst you are in the dental chair whitening the teeth over a period of about an hour and a half. Since a change in the law in October 2012, in surgery whitening is not as effective as we are limited in the strength of gels we can use. It can still be effective if combined with a home whitening kit.
A revolutionary way of straightening your teeth.
It works by a series of removable, near invisible “aligners” that fit over your teeth and gradually straighten them to achieve the smile that you always wanted. The aligners are worn all of the time but are removed for eating and cleaning your teeth. This has the advantage of improved gum health during treatment through better dental hygiene. Invisalign treatment starts with an initial consultation visit to our clinic to discuss the treatment and determine whether Invisalign is suitable for you.
The next step is to develop a computer model of your teeth. This model shows your teeth before and after treatment. Together, we can review this and both agree on treatment before the aligners are made. Invisalign is suitable for most orthodontic cases. It is particularly suitable as a less invasive treatment option for those considering porcelain veneers to straighten their teeth.
6 Month Smiles
Brace yourself for the smile you’ve always dreamed of!
Most adults are unhappy with the appearance of their smiles. Crooked teeth make many people feel self-conscious, reserved, or even ashamed of their appearance. Now, adults all over the country can smile bigger, brighter, and more confidently than ever after wearing braces for only six months.
Six Month Smiles utilises clear braces to gently straighten teeth in an average time of only six months. By focusing on the teeth that show when you smile and not making significant bite changes, your dentist can comfortably straighten your teeth and give you the attractive, pleasant smile that you’ve always wanted. Six Month Smiles is conservative, inexpensive, and highly effective. It may sound “too good to be true”, but thousands of people are living proof that this is real! You can be next!
Did you once spend years undergoing painful orthodontic treatment and unsightly braces only to see your teeth slowly slip back to their former wonky ways?
Are you one of many who is generally unhappy with the alignment of your teeth and longing for a beautiful, straight smile?
Dr Will Shaw at Ancells Farm Dental Clinic is proud to introduce a new and leading-edge cosmetic dentistry procedure that is taking the UK by storm – The Inman Aligner. This revolutionary concept sees protruding or crowded teeth transformed in a matter of weeks!
So how does it work?
The Inman Aligner is a clear plastic retainer with two spring-loaded aligning bars that fit easily over the front four teeth. Unlike a regular brace, the Inman Aligner provides constant gentle pressure on the teeth, easing them back into place far more quickly. Apart from its aesthetic benefits, the Inman Aligner is easy to use and can be inserted and removed at any time, allowing eating, brushing (and kissing) to continue as normal. Once teeth have moved to the desired position, a very discreet retainer holds them in place, so they remain in their new position. During the first consultation, an impression is made of the teeth and in the second, teeth are smoothed to make room for movement and the aligner fitted. For the duration of the treatment, visits every two weeks are required to review and adjust the aligner.
Lingual Braces / Social 6
It is now possible to have braces hidden on the inside of your teeth.
These braces are fixed to the inside of the front teeth, and can quickly and effectively give patients a beautifully straight smile. Lingual braces, sometimes known as “Social 6”, are ideal for mild to moderate tooth alignment problems that involve the front teeth. Most cases can be completed in less than 16 weeks.
